  Ghana - Africa's warmest welcome

Ghana as a destination has been described as ‘Africa for the beginner’. It is one of the easiest places in Africa to travel around and the people are undoubtedly the friendliest in Africa.

This country maintains its rich traditions and culture whilst fits comfortably in the modern world.

The People:
Ghana has four major ethnic linguistic groups. The Akans, the largest group include the popular Ashanti, famous for historical battles the Ashanti King Kente cloth and living culture. Equally vibrant and cultures and traditions are found in amongst the The Nzema, Ewe, Ga and Dagomba.

Religion :
Around 60% of Ghanaians describe themselves as Christians. Muslims are around 25% and are the majority of northern Ghana. Traditional religions are practiced and coexist with the major religions in the social settings of social events and funerals.

Major Airlines flying in and out of Accra include, British Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, A’ Italia, Egypt Air, Ethiopia Airlines, South African Airways, Emirates, Air Ivoire.
A selection of charter Airlines fly into Accra from the UK and Europe offering cheaper flights.

Travellers from West Africa:
West Coast are well served by Bellview, Air Ivoire, Slok Air, Aero contractors newly established Virgin Nigeria and Ghana International Air soon to be re-introduced.
Overland Ghana can be reach overland crossing boarders with
Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, and to the north Burkina Faso.

Formalities:
Most nationalities, apart from ECOWAS and some African nationals, require entry visas. Check with the Ghana High Commission or Embassy. Passports should have at least 6 month validity.

Health:
It’s recommended that you consult a Doctor with regards to medications and inoculations. Yellow fever certificates maybe required.

Money:
It’s easy to change money in Ghana, in any of the many licensed forex bureaus, All major international currencies and West African currency. Excess money can be kept in dollar traveller cheques.

Credit Cards:
Visa and MasterCard are the most popular form of cards accepted. ATM’s provide cash in local currency.
